power generation

Our energy mix consists mostly of using renewable energies. We make sure, following to our quality standards, to continuously improve our operating processes by implementing higher safety standards and to increase efficiency.

The energy mix is aligned with our three areas of expertise in generating energy:

Expertise in power plants

Our power plants use biomass in the form of wood chips from scrap wood (categories A1-A4), wood chips made of natural wood from the forests or landscape conservation measures, and shredded waste from wood materials production as their energy source.  Our waste incineration plant (TRB plant) generates electricity and heat from industrial and municipal waste with thermal waste treatment processes.

Expertise in biogas

Our biogas plants are fueled with biomass in the form of maize silage and whole plant silage (GPS [Ganzpflanzensilage]) as well as grass and Sudan grass silage as their primary energy source.  We also recycle slurry, manure and in our biogas plant in Bad Köstritz also packaged as well as unpackaged food stuffs.

Expertise in contracting

Our Contracting business unit generates distributed heat and electricity from natural gas, biogas, biomethane or wood chips as well as with heating oil in smaller quantities.  We supply electricity for cooling and in the case of absorption chillers also heat.

Biomass

The Danpower group runs a large number of its plants partially or sometimes entirely with biomass.

Municipal & industrial waste

Modern technology as well as adding cogeneration in incineration lead to a high degree of efficiency in energy generation.

Fossil Fuels

Natural gas is a fossil fuel, which unlike other fuels is characterized by much lower specific CO2-emissions.  Some of our natural gas plants are supplied with additional biogas from our biogas plants, which has been reconditioned to natural gas quality.
